AEF UNDERGRAD BURSARIES

The foundation awards seven $5,000 bursaries to any Albertans enrolled in an undergraduate engineering or geoscience program anywhere in Canada. We will award bursaries based primarily on financial need in addition to non-academic accomplishments.

Eligibility

  • Students must be enrolled/accepted into any year of an undergraduate engineering or geoscience degree program at a Canadian institution
     
  • Students must have been an Alberta resident for at least 12 consecutive months prior to entering university
     
  • The student must be able to demonstrate in sufficient detail that the bursary will enable attendance and/or completion of the degree that otherwise may not have been possible
     
  • The student should also describe in sufficient detail any extracurricular activities e.g. sport, recreation, arts, volunteering, mentoring, community involvement, etc.

Application Process & Timelines

  • Applications will be received from June 8 to July 31, 2015 by the Honours & Awards Committee.
  • Your application must be complete.
  • You will be notified whether you have been successful in receiving the bursary by August 31 but the funds will not be forwarded until the university confirms that you are enrolled/registered in your program.
  • The bursary will be paid directly to the institution.

AEF ENBRIDGE ABORIGINAL BURSARY

The foundation awards two $5,000 bursaries to eligible First Nations students from Treaties 6, 7 and 8 studying engineering or geoscience at the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary in any discipline, in any year. We will award bursaries based on financial need and non-academic accomplishments.

Eligibility

  • Students must be a member of a Treaty 6, 7 or 8 (Alberta) First Nation.
  • Students must be enrolled/accepted into any year of an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta or the Schulich School at the University of Calgary.
  • The student must be able to demonstrate in sufficient detail that the bursary will enable attendance and/or completion of the degree that otherwise may not have been possible.
  • The student should also describe in sufficient detail your extracurricular activities e.g. sport, recreation, arts, volunteering, mentoring, community involvement, etc.

AEF ALEX HEMSTOCK GRADUATE BURSARY

The foundation awards one $5,000 bursary to an eligible engineering graduate student at the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary in any discipline. We will award the bursary based on financial need and non-academic accomplishments.

Eligibility

  • Student must be enrolled/accepted into a postgraduate degree program in engineering at the University of Alberta, or the University of Calgary.
  • Student must be staying in Canada to further his/her career after completion of the degree
  • The student must be able to demonstrate in sufficient detail that the bursary will enable attendance and/or completion of the degree that otherwise may not have been possible.
  • The student should also describe in sufficient detail your extracurricular activities e.g. sport, recreation, arts, volunteering, mentoring, community involvement, etc.

Application Process & Timelines

  • Applications will be received from June 8 to July 31, 2015 by the Honours & Awards Committee
